Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells
Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells
Product Specifications

The American Red Cross is proud to offer Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) for research use only (RUO), sourced from our extensive network of healthy donors. Our PBMC collections are meticulously processed to isolate key lymphocytes and monocytes, ensuring the integrity and viability of the cells for your research needs.
Key Features
- Careful Processing: PBMC collections are processed in our Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) Lab in Philadelphia, PA, using biological safety cabinets to maintain safety and quality.
- Rapid Isolation: Mononuclear cells are isolated within two days of collection from leukopaks, using Ficoll density gradient centrifugation.
- Cryopreservation for Longevity: Isolated cells are cryopreserved with BioLife Solutions CryoStor® CS10 Freeze Media, helping cells retain functionality for extended periods.
- Availability of Fresh PBMCs: Freshly isolated PBMCs are available upon request to meet specific research requirements.
- Donor Typing: PBMCs from HLA and KIR typed donors are available, allowing you to select the most suitable donors for your research.

Our PBMC collections are processed in our Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) Lab in Philadelphia, PA, adhering to the highest regulatory standards for clinical applications and therapeutic product development.
Key Features
- Advanced Processing: PBMC collections are processed within our cleanroom facilities, designed to meet rigorous GMP standards, ensuring the quality and safety of the cells.
- Rapid and Reliable Isolation: Mononuclear cells are isolated using Ficoll density gradient centrifugation within two days of collection from leukopaks and cryopreserved immediately with CS10 to maintain cell viability.
- High-Quality Standards: We minimize contamination from non-target cells like granulocytes, red blood cells, and platelets to retain the mononuclear cells' viability and effectiveness for clinical use.
- Comprehensive Testing: All GMP products undergo sterility, endotoxin, and mycoplasma testing and conform to 21 CFR Parts 210, 211, and 1271 standards.
- Custom Donor Selection: PBMCs from HLA and KIR typed donors are available, allowing you to select the most suitable donors for your specific clinical applications.
